How it works

Highbankers, or power sluices, operate by pumping water into a hopper where raw, unclassified gravel and dirt are introduced. The water flow breaks apart the material in a boil box, washing it over a series of riffles and specialized matting. Heavy materials like gold, gemstones, and dense minerals become trapped in the mat's vortexes, while lighter sand and gravel are washed away as tailings. This continuous flow system allows prospectors to process significantly more material than traditional hand panning or standard sluicing, utilizing fluid dynamics to maximize the recovery of both fine gold and larger specimens.
