How it works

A highbanker hopper works by receiving raw, unclassified paydirt and using a pressurized water system to wash and separate the material. The internal spray bars blast the gravel, breaking apart clay and dirt, while the screen allows only the smaller, gold-bearing material to pass through into the sluice box below. The larger rocks and debris are washed over the top and discarded, ensuring that the recovery mats in the sluice operate at peak efficiency without being overwhelmed by oversized material.
