What the River G Probes are built for
The River G Probes are the dedicated ground-contact sensors designed for use with the UIG River G underground water detector's geophysical search system. Built for professional water prospectors, hydrogeologists, and field surveyors, these probes are inserted into the ground to create a direct electrical link between the soil and the River G main unit. They are an essential replacement or spare-set component for anyone relying on the River G's geophysical mode to characterize underground water layers.
Why hunters choose it
- Purpose-built for the River G geophysical search system — ensures full compatibility and accurate data transmission between the ground and the main unit.
- Sold as a matched set of four probes, mirroring the factory configuration of the River G geophysical module.
- Robust construction designed to withstand repeated insertion into varied soil types including rocky, clay, sandy, and mineralized terrain.
- Compact and lightweight, making them easy to pack alongside the River G system bag for field work.
- Genuine UIG factory part — ensures the geophysical system continues to deliver reliable salinity, density, and water-type readings without signal degradation from worn or mismatched probes.
How it works
The River G's geophysical search system measures soil resistivity by passing a low-level electrical signal between probes inserted at set intervals in the ground. Each probe acts as an electrode, and the resistance values recorded across the probe array allow the main unit to infer the presence, character, and composition of underground water — distinguishing fresh water from saline water and identifying rock-layer boundaries. This is a well-established geophysical technique (electrical resistivity tomography) used in professional hydrogeological surveys worldwide. The probes are the critical field interface for this measurement: worn, damaged, or incompatible probes introduce noise into the resistivity readings, which is why using the correct factory-matched set matters for reliable results.
